How can I start?

Hello!
I'm a 24 years old guy and I decided to start playing the drums only as hobby.
I like rock and metal and I would like to try to imitate System of a Down, Guns'n'roses or similar.

Can you suggest me:
1) Which kind of drums to buy? Consider that it is only a hobby, so the budget is limited
2) How can I start learning?

Thank you

take some lessons so you don't start off learning bad habits... Buy a kit second hand (you can get a quality kit at a great price that way). Pretty much any of the big brands are good. Yamaha, Tama, Pearl, Mapex, etc.

more suggestions for learning

I'd also suggest buying a metronome, sticks and a practice pad to work on your rudiments and timing when your not on your kit (or until you can buy a kit), also, any time you are listening to music, focus on the drum parts. Listen closely and pick out how the drummer is playing the snare and bass to the time of the song, how are they putting in the fills, how many time changes are they doing, etc.
Most of all practice, practice, practice! For most people (myself included) it doesn't come easy!

Start playing to music on your ipod etc.... I would not take any lessons for at least 6 months if you do not know what to do, cause then you will never figure out anything yourself. Get a teacher when you feel like you are at a wall and need to be opened up.

Go out and see LIVE music. Screw Youtube vids and DVDs---that ain't shyt.

Start with your basic beats, learn from other drummers, last but not least expect to spend 2 hours a day getting your feet separated from hands, and than all limbs separated from each other
